The Kennel "de l'Ile Monsin"
belonged to Edmond Moreaux of Liege. He started very
successfully in 1925 with "Francoeur Champion de Liège",
born in 1924 by Danilo de la Lys out of Janne de la Lys. Francoeur was
both a work and a beauty champion. Francoeur fathered Cendrillo de l'Ile Monsin. Although Cendrillo never participated in exhibitions, he added value to the breed in general. He was a nervous dog with an extraordinary character that he inherited from his mother Tamia de l'Ile Monsin. Edmond Moreaux adored dogs with great character and he trained them sometimes to the point of ferociousness. This is a beautiful bouvier of black colour. Some however reproached him for having flat ribs and not enough chest. Coupled with Demoiselle de la
Thudinie (ALSH 2837), a litter was born on 2 December 1958. A
pup, Hion de la Thudinie (LOSH 184492) was distinguished from the
others by its color: he was fawn with black overlay under a black
mask, exactly the beautiful hot mahogany colour of a Tervueren.
He was often used as stud. These are some lines written by J.
Chastel in his work "Le Bouvier des Flandres - yesterday and
today ". "Even if he gave an impressive series of
champions which made his fame, on the other hand many of his products
were discarded at a young age: awful diluted colours, shepherd dog
heads, elongated, and even bad sets of teeth. But, in the majority of the cases, he
added his character and he really had an extraordinary temperament.
Hion trotted easily up to 15 km at a time during my bicycle trips
without showing the least signs of fatigue. He loved water and
at the smallest of my signs he would jump into the Sambre from the top
of a bridge. At the age of three, Hion left for
the United States in the "Deewal Kennel". (translated by Pascale) |
